How it works

From miner to canonical reward

A found header is a candidate. Cumulative work, not this website, decides the canonical chain.

Miner

An independent operator publishes a payout address and searches for a valid SHA256d header.

SHA256d proof of work

The header must satisfy the current leading-zero-bit requirement.

Candidate block

A valid header plus transactions is offered to peers.

Network validation

Other nodes check work, timestamps, rewards and execution.

Canonical chain

The block is canonical only if it remains on the most-work chain.

Block reward

If it stays canonical, the protocol credits 50 NVC in the current initial era, then later-era halved rewards.

Operators

The node can mine in-process to a public 0x payout address. It does not need the corresponding private key to credit rewards.
